Marquita Elizabeth Slemp

Marquita Elizabeth Meade Slemp of Meadowview, VA has gone home.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Rev. Samuel Edward Slemp, her parents, Joseph Silas Meade and Myrtle Louise Meade, and her siblings, Sheldon Meade, Richard Meade, Everette Meade, Douglas Meade, Nola Mullins, and Jeanette Mullins.

Marquita’s legacy of love lives on through her devoted children: Glen Slemp and wife, Mitzi, Marianne Vanover and husband, Gene, Ed Slemp and wife, Ginger and Karen Stacy and husband, Les. She delighted in the joys of being “Nana”, her heart overflowing with pride and love for her grandchildren: Daniel Vanover and wife, Katie, Drew Slemp, Cristina Mullins and husband, Dustin, Ryan Vanover and wife, Brittany, Kaitlin Slemp, Sarah Slemp, Lydia Slemp, Rebekah Slemp, and great-grandchildren: Micah Vanover, Sawyer Mullins, Evelynn Vanover, Levi Vanover, and Victoria Mullins.

In addition to her immediate family, Marquita is also survived by a vast number of beloved relatives and friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness, grace, and servant’s heart.

Visitation for Marquita Elizabeth Meade Slemp will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel in Abingdon with her funeral following at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Birchfield officiating. The committal service will be on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Slemp Family Cemetery, 31001 Ramblewood Drive, Meadowview, VA 24361, where grandsons and nephews will be serving as pallbearers.
