Glade Spring, VA – Martha Rachel Cook Dolinger, age 89 and long-time resident of the Widener’s Valley Community, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Abingdon Health & Rehab Center. Martha was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Cook and Ruth Widener Cook; husband, Wade Dolinger; and five brothers, Clayton, Herbert, Earnest, Vernon, and Charles Cook. She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Sturgill of Glade Spring, VA, Cheria (Rick) Rouse of Meadowview, VA, and Clarice (Bill) Armstrong of Damascus, VA; one brother, Robert (Lorraine) Cook of Damascus, VA; three sisters, Eleanor Dolinger of Glade Spring, VA, Rebecca Heath of Meadowview, VA, and Mary Thomas of Abingdon, VA; five grandchildren, Don Armstrong, Amy (Gene) Milhorne, Tami (Justin) Sizemore, Chrissie (B.J.) McIntyre, and Alisa Sturgill; three great grandchildren, Olivia (Harley) Mayes, Jason McIntyre, and Madison Farthing; and a special friend who Martha considered her daughter, Nancy Jo Waters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastor Vann Seal officiating. Interment will follow in Widener’s Valley Cemetery with Buddy Thomas, Danny Thomas, Zack Heath, Glenn Heath, Mike Heath, Eddie Heath, and Ron Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Leon Holyfield, nephews, and the Deacons of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be held 5-8 p.m., Saturday, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
