Martha M. Gunther, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church and the Abingdon Area Newcomer's Book Club and Bridge Club.
She was born to the late Warren Booth and Frances Carr Booth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Booth; and sister, Betty Gulasick.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Kenneth Gunther; son, John Gunther and wife Janet of Abingdon, VA; daughter, Christine VanderWall (Robert McKenzie) of Grandville, MI; two brothers, James Booth of Flushing, MI and Neil Booth and wife Diane of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren: Jonathan VanderWall and wife Ronda of Grandville, MI; Todd VanderWall and wife Rachel of Golden, CO; and Caroline Gunther of Hendersonville, NC; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Tim Reynolds officiating.
