Martin "Junior" Norris, 76, of Abingdon , Virginia , went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 15, 2012, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.
Junior was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a faithful member of Valley View Freewill Baptist church for many years. He loved fishing and was an avid supporter of the Abingdon High School Falcons. Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bessie Norris; and a sister, Dorothy Proffit.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Louise Miller Norris; two sons, Ronnie Norris, and Bobby Norris, and wife, Annette, of Abingdon; two granddaughters, Cierra and Salena Norris of Johnson City, TN; one brother, Shelton Norris of Abingdon; two sisters, Lethia Parris and Eula Skeens, of Maryland; several nieces and nephews; and a faithful pet companion, Taco.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service or anytime at the home.
Funeral services for Junior Norris will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, January 19, 2012, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Eddie Gobble and Brother Howard Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens . Pallbearers will be Tony Roark, Scott Barton, David Reed, Paul Sullins, Jr., Darren Miller, and David Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Fields, Roy Hatfield, Danny Roe, Henson Pope, Sherdan Pope, Lonnie Casey, Bobby Neal, Bob McCracken, Marshall Fuqua and nephews.
