Marvin Rowe, 86, departed this life on Saturday, November 25th following a lengthy illness.Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Florence Compton Rowe, brother, Vivian Rowe, and sister, Marie Pack.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clarice Lamb Rowe of Abingdon, VA, daughter, Margie Rowe of Arlington, VA, son, Chris (Trina) Rowe of Bristol, VA, and two grandchildren, Holden Rowe and Blakely Rowe of Bristol, VA, sister, Fern Lambert of Welch, WV, and brother, Landon Rowe of New Albany, OH.
Marvin was born in Lex, West Virginia, on March 31, 1932. He joined the Army after graduating high school and was a member of the Military Police during the Korean War. After serving in the military, Marvin received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concord College, Athens, WV, in 1958, Masters of Arts degree from Marshall University, Huntington, WV, in 1963, and a Specialist in Education degree from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN, in 1976. Marvin had a love for teaching and even after retiring from Washington County Virginia Schools, he continued to work as an aide and substitute teacher. Marvin was of the Christian faith and attended Mountain View United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Don Thayer officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, prior to the funeral service.
