Mary Alice Arnold Widner, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Mary was born to the late Emmett Arnold and Bertha Roark Arnold and has been a resident of Bristol, TN her whole life. She was a member of South Chapel and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Carter Widner, grandson, Dalton Parks, and six siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ab Widner; two sons, Roger (Rachel) Widner of Abingdon, VA and Danny Widner of Bristol, TN; seven daughters, Bertha (Ray) Baumgardner of Westminister, MD, Kathy Parks of Bristol, TN, Ester Denton of Bristol, TN, Patsy (Steve) Keeling of Bristol, TN, Sheri (Rick) Cox of Bristol, TN, Cindy Montgomery of Abingdon, VA, and Barbara Vestal and fianc�©e Harold Casey of Damascus, VA; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ellen Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at South Chapel with Mike Norris, Mark Baumgardner and Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Great-grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday at Farris Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Widner Fund, 520 Horizon Drive, Bristol, TN 37620.
