Mary Arden Woodby

MARY A. WOODBY, 90, joined her predeceased husband, Roy Ernest in death on December 25, 2011. Mary was the daughter of predeceased parents, Milton James Arden and Margaret Mae Galliher Arden. Mary was a life-long resident of Washington County , Virginia and a member of the Green Spring Community. She had been a member of the Abingdon Bible Church for almost 40 years. She had been an active volunteer for 12 years at Johnston Memorial Hospital and a retired employee of Harwood Manufacturing Company.

Mary is survived by two daughters: Vena Jane Woodby Peters and Hilda Marie Woodby, two granddaughters: Vickye Lynne Peters Hall, her husband, Don; and Susan Leah Peters Hampton and her husband, Mike, four grandchildren: Joseph Francis Kennedy, Adam Isaac Hall, Kathleen Grace Kennedy and Chad Andrew Hall. She is survived by one brother, Howard Lee Arden of South Carolina and one sister, Fannie G. Greer of Abingdon. She is predeceased by several brothers and sisters: Ruth Arden, Johnny Arden, Claude "Junior" Arden and Rubye Arden Russell. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

Family will accept condolences from friends and the community at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2011.

Services will be held in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. Main Street , Abingdon , Virginia at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 with Dr. Paul Bufford and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Mermory Gardens . Pallbearers will be the men of the Abingdon Bible Church Senior Sunday School Class.
