Mary Evelene Muncy

Mary Evelene Muncy, age 82, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 16, 2017. She was born June 19, 1935, to the late James H. Mullins and Vicie Jones Mullins in Avondale, W.Va. Mary met the love of her life, Lewey Muncy, in Jolo, W.Va. in 1959. She and Lewey worked hard to maintain their home and support a family of 9 children.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Muncy; three brothers, Phil Mullins, Frank Mullins, and Mack Mullins; and two sisters, Joyce Stanley and Betty Asbury.

Left to cherish her memory are eight children, Carol Dobbs and husband Jerry of W. Va.; Troy Lester of W.Va.; Vonda Lester of W.Va.; James E. Mullins of Abingdon, Va.; Louie Mullins of W.Va.; Phillip Muncy of W.Va.; Sherry Muncy of Kodak, Tenn.; and Jack Muncy and wife Kim of N.C.; sister, Sharon Short and husband John of W.Va.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. John E. Massey, Jr. and Jack Muncy officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. A committal service will be held at a later date.
