Mary Jenene Pierce Hudson

Abingdon, VA – Mary Jenene Pierce Hudson, age 78 and life-long resident of Abingdon, passed on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at her home. Mary was a 1954 graduate of William King High School and a 1974 graduate of the Virginia Highlands Community College Licensed Practical Nurse program. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Washington County Health Department for many years. Mary was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved spending time with her granddaughter, working puzzles, and doing crochet. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Leslie Pierce and Elsie Annabel Spriggs Pierce; brother, Arlen Pierce; and sisters, Loretta Fields and Delores Henegar. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John Lewis Hudson, Jr.; son, Anthony “Tony” Hudson of Abingdon, VA; daughter, Tina Jenene Goodpasture and husband David of Meadowview, VA; granddaughter, Dr.Chasity Dawn Hill and husband Nicholas of Abingdon, VA; a future great grandchild; and her cat, Zu Zu. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2015, at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Pastor Jason Tanksley officiating. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Hill, David Goodpasture, Troy Hicks, Craig Hudson, and David Pate. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Hudson, David Hudson, and Arthur Singleton. Those wishing to travel in procession to the cemetery are asked to convene at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. The family would like to extend special thanks to Sara Farmer and Mountain States Hospice and to Teresa Honaker for the care given to Mrs. Hudson.
