Meadowview, Va. – Mary Kathleen Widner Kaylor, age 78, of Meadowview, Virginia passed away at NHC HealthCare Bristol and was reunited with her husband on Monday, October 4, 2021. She was born March 27, 1943 in Lodi, Virginia to the late John Henry and Cora Lee Phillips Widner.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary dearly loved her family; her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a wonderful cook, and her best days were spent at family gatherings with good food and warm fellowship. Mary also loved the outdoors, spending time out on her patio, and flower gardening, especially roses. Mary also liked shopping. She was a faithful member of Abingdon Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Sunshine (Sonny) Kaylor; sister: Martha Able; and three brothers: William (Bill) Widner, Andrew Widner, and Benny (Bud) Widner.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her three sons: Michael Stuart (Vicki) Kaylor, Roger Matthew Kaylor, and Timothy Sunshine Kaylor; two brothers: John Walter (Helen) Widner, and George Allen (Nava) Widner; three sisters: Vivian Hutton, Hattie Pickle, and Linda (Susie) Widner; five grandchildren: Blake Kaylor, Alex Kaylor, Whitley Moon, Austin Kaylor, and Chelsea Kaylor; great-grandchildren: Presley, and Saylor; special sister-in-law: Joyce Rice; special niece: Mandi Pickle; special friend: Judy Canter; and many nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 10:00 AM, after which Mary will be laid to rest with her husband. Chase King, Wes Johnson, Russell Carter, Justin Hensley, Kyle Montgomery, and Mark Riehl will serve as pallbearers. William (Peanut) Widner receives special recognition as an honorary pallbearer.
Please note that, in accordance with National Cemetery regulations, fully vaccinated persons may choose whether or not to wear a mask. Persons not fully vaccinated are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Abingdon Church of Christ (19508 Dennison Dr., Abingdon, VA 24211), with Minister Joe Scroggins officiating.
