Mary Magdalene Worley Mays, 84, passed on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in Commonwealth Assisted Living. Mary was a graduate of Castlewood High School and lived in Russell County before moving to Abingdon in 1968.
She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Countis and Maude Sproles Worley; six brothers, Dewey, Ralph F., Paul, Harry, J.W., and Garnett; and sister, Margaret Gonzales.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy Mays; brother, Homer Lee Worley of McEwen, Tenn.; sister, Barbara Glover of Rockford, Ill.; special niece and caregiver, Lois E. Taylor; special nephew, Paul Worley; and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Myers Vicars officiating.
