Mary Lou Alena Peake passed away on May 7, 2024 at Bristol Health and Rehab following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her son, Reverend Charles Peake and her daughter, Janet Lee Peake as well as her parents and siblings. Mary Lou is survived by her sister, Ruby Thomas Hayden; daughter-in-law, Teena Peake; granddaughters, Danielle Sapp (Michael), Erika Perez (Enrique), Christina Shortt (John) and Jennifer Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Vincent Short, Desiree Sapp, Lydia Sapp, Liam Diviak and Amada Perez.
Mary Lou was a life-long member of Trigg Street Church of God and was very devout in her faith. Her acts of kindness to others will always be remembered by the lives she touched. She volunteered at several food banks helping people with their deliveries.
May Lou worked for the Social Security Administration for 33 years and took great pride in her work. She was an avid gardener and her yard was her pride and joy. Mary Lou's children and grandchildren were very much loved by her.
Mary Lou is rejoicing in heaven today, reunited with her son and daughter, along with her parents and siblings and other loved ones praising God and singing in the choir. She will be very missed.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her hospice staff of Gentiva Hospice Services, especially her nurses Christine Nurde and Teresa Powers.
The visitation will be held on Friday, May 10 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Vaughn and Reverend Larry Wilson officiating. The interment will be held at Knollkreg Memorial Park following the funeral.
