BRISTOL, VA - Mary Stevens Rasnick, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at her home in Bristol, VA. Mary was born in the Sandy Ridge Community of Dickenson County, VA to the late Ira and Dora Stevens. She was a faithful member of Grace Point Church of God.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Shorty” Rasnick, Sr.; her son, Lawrence Rasnick, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Jane Rasnick; sisters, Hettie, Cannie, and Trula; and brothers, Roy, Doris, Arthur, Russ, Jimmy, and Fred.
Mary is survived by her loving son, Jervie Rasnick of Davenport, VA; her daughter-in-law, Judy Rasnick of Bristol, VA; granddaughters, Melody (Matt) Helton of Bristol, VA, and Rebekah (Ronald Tiller) Sullivan of Davenport, VA; great-grandsons, Lucas Sullivan and Isaac Helton; sister-in-law, Julia Stevens; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to Mary’s wonderful caregivers Janie, Nicole, Lora, Linda, and Debby for their care of Mrs. Rasnick over the last several years.
Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Forest Hills Chapel with Rev. Stephen Sneed officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with nephews and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Helton, Ronald Tiller, Don Keene, Michael Wilson, and Kenny Rasnake. Mrs. Rasnick’s family respectfully asks for those attending the service to please wear masks.
