Matthew Joseph Cody, Jr.

Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Katrina, and his children, including his son, Matthew Cody, III. He is also survived by his step-children, Chris Meade and Kendle Foran, as well as his step-granddaughter, Ivy Foran. Matt’s brother & wife, Michael and Fonda Cody, nephew, Brent Cody, and niece, Julie Cody also mourn his loss.

Matt’s educational journey included attending Campbell College and the University of Richmond Law School, where he pursued his passion for law. His dedication to serving his country led him to enlist in the US Army, where he achieved the rank of Captain from 1969 to 1974. Matt served in Panama and later as a Civil Affairs Officer in Thailand.

Following his military service, Matt embarked on a successful career as an attorney-at-law for over 40 years. He owned his own law practice in Lebanon, VA and was highly regarded for his expertise and dedication to his clients.

Outside of his professional life, Matt enjoyed pursuing various hobbies. He had a passion for scuba diving, indulged in reading, and found joy in remodeling projects.

Matt Cody will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of accomplishments, kindness, and dedication will forever be cherished.

The family requests a memorial gathering of family and friends on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Farris Funeral Service Main Street Chapel, with a memorial service to follow. Graveside inurnment will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, October 16, 2023, in the Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, VA, 1019 E. Valley Drive.
