Abingdon, VA Matthew Lynn “Doodle” Wampler went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. He is survived by his children Mallory Wampler and Madison Wampler, both of Abingdon, and Elijah Crue Breeding Wampler of Lebanon, VA. He is also survived by his dad and mom, Jeff and Vickie Wampler of his home, and his other dad and mom, Walter and Donna White of Abingdon. Other survivors include a very special uncle, Billy White of Missouri; his brother Joshua Wampler of Abingdon; his sister Kayla Burrell and her husband Fred Burrell, whom he loved and considered a brother; one very special niece Crystal Rose Burrell, whom he loved dearly and who loved him as well; his grandmother Lucille White and a special aunt Pamela White, both of Abingdon. Matthew loved everyone, and everyone loved him. He had a giving heart and a forgiving spirit. He loved working with his hands and could build anything. He loved animals and enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables. But more than anything, Matthew loved his children. One of our favorite memories was of him sitting in a rocking chair with his children sitting on his lap. We know Matthew will be special in heaven because he was special on earth. I can hear him asking Jesus now, “What you think about that?” – one of his favorite sayings. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Jason Nunley and Pastor Adam Wise officiating. Matthew will be buried at home in the Brumley Gap community at White Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014. Family and friends are invited to meet at the cemetery for the service on Sunday. Active pallbearers will be Frankie Stophel, Roger Roe, Jeremy Rhea, Ben Tweed, David Vannoy, Jason Alexander, J.D. Wise and Beaver Hayter. Honorary pallbearers will be everyone else who knew Matthew.
