Melody Zoe Matney

Melody Zoe Matney, age 65, passed away on May 13, 2024, in Abingdon, Virginia. She was born on December 16, 1958 in West Virginia to the late Pauline Shafer Lane and Floyd Shafer. Mello or Nanny, as she preferred to be called, devoted her life to homemaking, raising her children and being a wife to her beloved husband, Eddie. Mello enjoyed reading, ceramics and pottery, gardening, playing the accordion and listening to Elvis.

In addition to her parents, Mello was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Shafer, and Son, Eddie Ray Matney Jr.

Mello is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Eddie Ray Matney; her sisters, Kim Estep and husband Darrel, Rhonda Goad and husband Charlie, Charolette Lane, and Jennifer Snellenburger; her brothers Ervin Lane Jr., Gary Shafer and wife Sharon; her children, Tiffany Mullins, Jonathan Matney and wife Santana; grandchildren, Brooke Thomas, Sydney Countiss, Drake Matney, Vivian Matney, Logan Matney, and Hanna Matney; three great grandchildren and several loved nieces and nephews.
