Michael Allen Burnette

Michael Allen Burnette, known to many as "Mike," passed away on May 8, 2024, in his hometown of Abingdon, VA. He was born on August 31, 1952, in Washington County, VA to the late John Burnette and Mary Greer Burnette.
 
Mike led a fulfilling life dedicated to hard work and community service. He graduated from Abingdon High School and went on to have a successful career spanning over 40 years at Westinghouse. Additionally, he served as a delivery driver for Mayfield for 5 years, showcasing his strong work ethic and reliability.
 
Outside of work, Mike had a passion for hunting and fishing, finding joy in nature. Not only did he enjoy these hobbies, but he also selflessly gave back to his community by delivering meals for Meals on Wheels, demonstrating his compassionate nature.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Burnette.

Mike will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends, including his 2 brothers, beloved aunt Betty Greer, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and colleagues who admired and respected him.
 
In our memories, Mike will forever be remembered for his dedication to his work, love for the outdoors, and kindness towards others. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
 
A private graveside service will be held.
