Micheal David Pope

Abingdon, VA – Micheal D. Pope, age 58, passed on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Johnston Memorial Hospital after battling cancer. “Pope” was a graduate of Abingdon High School and followed his father’s footsteps by establishing his own flooring installation business. He enjoyed sitting by or floating on the river, hunting, fishing, and golfing with his son. He was a proud dad, and devoted grandfather; "Boo-Boo". Pope was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone he knew. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henson and Hazel Price Pope; brother, Dean Pope; and sister, Sandra “Sandy” Pope. 

Pope is survived by his sister, Debbie Hensley and husband Randy; brother, Ricky Pope; children, Deanna Pope, Josh Pope, Brittany Doane, and Morgan Pope; eleven grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. 

Visitation with be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Brandon Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the Pope Family Cemetery with Johnny Rosenbaum, Preston Rosenbaum, Cameron Roark, Matthew Roark, Shayne Leonard, Justin Leonard, and Michael Rutter serving as pallbearers.
