Mildred Jean Gates Marshall

Abingdon, VA – Mildred Jean Gates Marshall, age 88, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at her home.  Jean lived in Caretta, WV for many years before moving to Abingdon in 1984.  She was a bookkeeper for the state of West Virginia for many years and a member of Greendale Chapel.   She is preceded in death by her parents, John C. Gates and Kathleen Sharp Jensen; husband, Harold T. “Rasie” Marshall; and brother, J.C. Gates. Jean is survived by her son, Barry Marshall and wife Debbie of Abingdon, VA; grandsons, Barry Marshall, II of Abingdon, VA and John David Marshall and wife Lindsay of Bristol, VA; and great granddaughter, Hannah Marshall. Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev.
