Abingdon, VA - Minnie Belle Stophel, age 88 passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at her home. Minnie attended Wyndale United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone. Minnie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Stophel; her parents, Charles W. Carmack and Jessie Booher Carmack; and two sons, Charles Edward Sowder and John W. Sowder. Minnie is survived by two sons, Frank Stophel and wife Laurie Stophel and Jerry Stophel and wife Ann Stophel; one daughter, Ginger McIntyre and husband Randy L. McIntyre; sister, Frances Gregory and husband Raymond Gregory; brother, Charles Carmack; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, April 24, 2015 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. The funeral service for Minnie Belle Stophel will be Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Entombment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Todd McIntyre, John Sowder, Shane Sowder, Timmy Sowder, Cody Sowder, Taylor Stophel.
