Nancy Hurt Kahle, passed on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Nancy was born in Tazewell, VA to the late James Harmon Hurt and Gray Tartar Hurt. Mrs. Kahle and her first husband of 56 years, John B. Kahle, lived in Bluefield, VA before moving to Abingdon almost 50 years ago. Nancy attended Spring Creek Presbyterian Church and was a school teacher for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at Johnston Memorial Hospital and at Highlands Food Bank. Mrs. Kahle was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Hurt; sister, Rebecca Hurt Ferrell; and her second husband, George Bentley.
She is survived by her daughter, Katy Reep and husband Jaime of Stafford, VA; sister, Suzanne Peery of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Jessica and John Reep; and the daughter of her second husband, Linda Davenport and husband Jerry.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Steve Talbert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Johnston Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 16000, Johnston Memorial Drive, Abingdon, VA 24211, in Mrs. Kahle's name.
