Abingdon, VA Nancy Kathryn Camicia, age 93, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Hospital. A native of Okolona, Mississippi, Nancy had lived in Abingdon since 1967. She was an accomplished artist and was a founding member of the Arts Depot in Abingdon. Nancy was also active on the Board of the Virginia Highlands Festival, serving as Chair one year, and she also served on the Barter Theatre Foundation. Her interests were gardening, cooking and playing bridge. Nancy treasured her friendships and her community as a whole. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Abingdon. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Camicia, and her son, James R. Camicia, Jr. She is survived by her children, Robert Camicia (Margaret) of Hardy, VA; Kathryn Camicia (Steve) of Washington, D.C.; and Margaret Jego (Yves) of Abingdon; her grandchildren Robert M. Camicia, Jr., Deborah E. Camicia, Jennifer K. Camicia (Jason), Lauren E. Briggerman (Jeff), Abigail C. Briggerman, Brittany H. Jego and Evan J. Jego; and her great-granddaughter Lila. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 820 East Main Street, Abingdon. The Mass of Resurrection will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Father Francis Musolooza officiating. A private committal service will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Cecil Ratliff, Yves Jego, Evan Jego, Bob Camicia, Jr., Kevin Berry, and Steven Briggerman. Don Ellis will serve as honorary pallbearer.
