Nancy Sanders Davidson

Mrs. Nancy Sanders Davidson, 84, slipped peacefully into Glory on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, following a long illness.  She was born in Saltville, Va., to the late George E. “Doc” Sanders and Louise Romans Sanders. Nancy graduated with honors from Saltville High School and was crowned Miss Saltville and Miss Smyth County. She was a career wife and mother, excelling at cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, and decorating.  She was a member of the Glade Spring Garden Club and a beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. She was a long-time member of Byars-Cobbs Memorial United Methodist Church in Glade Spring, Va., where she served in various roles. Nancy especially enjoyed studying her Bible, singing, spending time with her family, camping with her friends, and visiting neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Mr. C.W. Davidson; her siblings, Mrs. Georgia Scott, Mr. Robert “Bob” Sanders, Mrs. Janie Tuggle, and Mr. Alvin Sanders; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Eleanor “Sis” Davidson Inscho. Nancy is survived by three sons, Ron Davidson of Bristol, Tenn., Wes Davidson and wife Vickie of Butler, Tenn., and Jon Davidson and wife Laura of Burlington, N.C.; two daughters, Sharon Singleton and husband Jerry of Glade Spring, Va., and Mona Salyer and husband Mark of Bristol, Va. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Eric and Conor Davidson, Amy Hamrick, Kama Hutton, Amanda Forbes, Nikki Davidson,  Mollie Moeck, Max and Macon Salyer, and Daniel, Matthew, Rebekah, and Emilee Davidson; eleven great-grandchildren: Claudia Davidson, Emma and Kara Hamrick, Keagan, Kolton, and Kollin Hutton, Audrey, Harrison, and Eleanor Forbes, and James and Elliott Moeck. Numerous nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors also survive.

Services for Mrs. Nancy Sanders Davidson will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Paul Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, Va.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Those planning to attend the interment service may gather at the cemetery Friday prior to 11:00 a.m.
