Naomi “Ruth” Hylton Osborne, of Abingdon, Va., born July 16, 1928, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 90 years of age. She was a very special wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, dearly loved by each member of her family. Ruth fulfilled her God-given purpose for her life 110 percent. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her tender loving ways. Ruth was a member of Victory Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Fred Osborne; four children: Jerry Osborne and wife, Kathy; Daniel Osborne and wife, Gwen; Norma Boyd; and Suzette Summerson and husband, Mike; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, VA 24210, with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Forest Hills Chapel.
