Nicholas Blase Plasmati

Abingdon, VA – Nicholas Blase Plasmati, age 97, passed on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Nick was born in Boston, MA to the late Biagio Plasmati and Luigiana Morelli Plasmati. Mr. Plasmati served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII where he flew 30 missions over Germany as lead navigator of B-24s in the Mighty 8th Air Force, 453rd Bomb Squadron based at Old Buckenham Air Field near Norwich, England. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and five air medals. Nick graduated from Bentley College and was a Certified Public Accountant in private practice in Walpole, MA, where he and his wife raised their children. He later retired to Deltona, FL and moved to Abingdon in 2006. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Haskins Plasmati; and three sisters, Rafaela Plasmati Rodriguez, Jennie Plasmati Haase, and Mary Plasmati Saya. He is survived by one son, Rick Plasmati and wife Betsy of Foxborough, MA; two daughters, Kathy Baldwin and husband Jim of Abingdon, VA and Chris Regan and husband Dennis of Beckett, MA; six grandchildren, Shannon Baldwin O’Leary and husband Joe, Jesse Baldwin and wife Cori, Sean Regan and fiancee Jaime Beler, Laura Regan and finance Alex Wayne, Nick Plasmati, and Sam Plasmati; five great grandchildren, Blaise O’Leary, Connor O’Leary, Brody Baldwin, Kai Baldwin, and Adali Baldwin; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2014, at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father John Rausch officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 p.m. just prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Jesse Baldwin, Sean Regan, Nick Plasmati, Sam Plasmati, Joe O’Leary, Bill Derrow, and Alex Wayne serving as pallbearers. Military Rites will be conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
