Meadowview, VA – Nina Kay Thomas, age 72, loving wife of 50 years, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Saturday August 8, 2015 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving family. Kay was born in Meadowview and resided there all of her life. She was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. Kay earned her Associates Degree from Virginia Highlands Community College. She worked at Meadowview Farm Supply, Emory & Henry College and retired from Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute. She loved cooking, canning, quilting and gardening. Kay was predeceased by her parents Stuart H. and Betty Boyd Cullop. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Jackie Thomas; son Farley Thomas and wife Angie of Meadowview; daughter Cynthia Harvey and husband Tommy of Meadowview; brothers Kyle (Doris) Cullop and Kitzie (Betty) Cullop both of Meadowview, Larry (Lori) Cullop of Spartanburg, SC; sisters Cuba Thomas of Meadowview and Debbie Rasnake of Glade Spring; grandchildren Nathaniel Hawthorne (Megan) and Lowden Thomas and great grandson Jackson Hawthorne. She is also survived by her loving dogs Heidi and Prissy. A funeral service for Nina Kay Thomas will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday August 11, 2015 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Thomas Prater and Rev. Paul T. Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Farley Thomas, Lowden Thomas, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Alfredo Lopez, Mark Orfield, Trevor Orfield and Tim Orfield. Honorary bearers will be Harry Paris, Glen Orfield, Tom McFadden, Tommy Harvey, Dr. William Mark Handy, Phil Crane and Jim White. The family will receive friends at the Farris Funeral Chapel on Monday August 10, 2015 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
