Nina Sue "Meemaw" Robinson, 73, loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend, died peacefully Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Nora, VA and was a daughter of the late Oakley and Myrtle Stanley. She graduated from Ervinton High School where she played basketball and also graduated from Hiawassee College where she was also a member of the basketball team. She retired from Dickenson County Public School System and in her retirement enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church and was a past member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Sandy Ridge, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman "Bob" Stanley and Bernie Stanley.
Survivors are her loving husband of 48 years, Philip N. Robinson; sons, Tony Robinson and wife Kim of Clintwood, VA and Chris Robinson and wife Kelly of Bristol, VA; daughter, Angelia Banks and husband Jerry of Jeffersonton, VA; grandchildren, Allie Robinson, Hannah Banks, Bailey Robinson, Taylor Puckett and Trey Puckett; sisters, Jean Phillips and husband Daniel of Farmville, VA; Jewel Leckliter and husband Ed of Goldvein, VA; Elizabeth Williams and husband Benny of Copper Hill, VA and Brenda Stanley of Nicholasville, KY; brothers, Ned Stanley of Fairfield, CA; Connie Stanley and wife, Pat of Madisonville, TN; Don Stanley and wife, Judy of Alexandria, VA; Clyde Stanley and wife Bonnie of Bristow, VA and Charlie Stanley and wife Joyce of Rineyville, KY; and; sister-in-law, Kay Stanley of Salem, VA; two uncles, Atler Stanley of Culpepper, VA; and Alton Stanley and wife Audrey of Pensacola, FL; two aunts, Beulah "Boots" Lambert and husband Carter of Abingdon; and Helen Riddle and husband Roy of Castlewood, VA; several nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Don and Jeanie Campbell.
The funeral service for Nina Sue Robinson will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Abingdon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Weikel and Rev. Les Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be friends and family
The family will receive friends Friday, March 19, 2010, from 6:00 â?? 8:00 p.m. at the Abingdon United Methodist Church.
