Nina flew away to her heavenly home on June 4, 2016 in Abingdon, Va. Nina was born to Wm. Emit and Maggie Vaught on January 24, 1924. She attended the two room school in the High Point Community through the seventh grade and graduated top of her class at Wallace High School. She was a member of Maple Grove Presbyterian Church; she served as Sunday school and VBS teacher and other positions in the church. Nina was well known for her cooking skills, and her greatest enjoyment was to spend time with her family and friends. She worked alongside her husband and family on the dairy farm turned beef operation. Nina was a hard worker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, earning the endearing name Granny by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, J.F. Stiffy Wilson and infant daughter; brothers Carl, Bob, and John Vaught, and sisters Ann Stewart, Ida Leonard, and Emma Vaught; sisterinlaw Kate Daniels and brother-in-law Harold Wilson; nephew Dr. Claude Stewart, Jr.; niece Barbara Ann Vaught; and two infant grandsons.

Survivors are son David Wilson (Barbara) of Abingdon, Va.; daughters Nancy Gwin of Abingdon and Susan Wilson of Bristol, Va.; grandchildren: Gary Gwin (Crystal) of New Hope N.C.; James Wilson (Heather) of Gray, Tenn.; Diana Pavlock (Steve) of Alexandria, Va.; Adam Wilson (Sarah) of Lebanon, Va.; Jenna Wright (Mark) of Bristol, Va.; great-grandchildren: Andrea and Brittany Gwin; Clint and Mady Wilson; Evan Pavlock; Katie, Chad and Kendra Mumpower; great-great-grandchildren Leila Hinkle and Kinsleigh Lawson; sister-in-law Dorothy Roop (Bill) and Elinor Vaught; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Wilburn and Jerelene Necessary, and Norman and Maggie Regan. The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Abingdon Health and Rehab for their care and to her friends at Maple Grove Community.

A funeral service for Nina Wilson will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Stephen Talbert officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the High Point Cemetery, Bristol, Va., where Wilburn Necessary, David Helton, Justin Rock, Eddie Ingle, Phillip Countiss, and Michael Countiss will serve as casket bearers. Flowers will be appreciated, or memorial donations can be made in Ninas memory to Maple Grove Presbyterian Church, c/o Bob Ingle, 15263 Black Hollow Road, Abingdon, VA 24210.
