Norma Jean Perkins McAllister, age 79, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She retired from Anthony Spangler Elementary School in Milpitas, CA where she was an Assistant Manager of the Cafeteria. She was a member of Abingdon Bible Church.
She was born to the late John Milton Perkins and Ethel Elizabeth Taylor Perkins. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Claude Frederick Perkins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Herbert Curtis McAllister; daughter, Jeanne Teresa McAllister of Canyon City, CO; two sons, Jeffery Lynn McAllister and wife Michelle of Bristol, VA and Andrew Gartrell McAllister and wife Holly of Des Moines, WA; sister, Opal Taylor of Chilhowie, VA; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2012 at Abingdon Bible Church, 16210 Elementary Drive, Abingdon, VA 24212. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Monday at the church with Pastor Paul Bufford and Pastor Josh Brown officiating. Those planning to attend the committal service are asked to meet at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058, or Abingdon Bible Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 843, Abingdon, VA 24212.
