Norma Winfrey Smith, age 76, of Abingdon, Va. And formerly of Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on September 23, 2017, in the Specialty Select Unit of Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1941, to the late Ralph Winfrey and Beulah Hickman Winfrey in Princeton, W.Va. She had lived in Abingdon since 2004 moving from the Bluefield and Princeton, W. Va. area. Mrs. Smith was a member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church. She was a teacher’s aide for twelve years at Brushfork School and Bluefield Junior High School. Mrs. Smith loved her family and grandchildren deeply and had a great love for her church family, pastor and his wife. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith, Sr. and two brothers, Bobby Winfrey and Jack Winfrey.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Donald Smith, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Tazewell, Va.; daughter, Kimberly Ramirez and husband, Martin of New Holland, Pa.; grandchildren, Nick Smith, Anna Smith, Felicia Ramirez, and Mariana Ramirez; great-grandchild, Athena Marie Wenger; brother, Harold Winfrey and wife, Virginia of Princeton, W. Va.; sister Phyllis Garner and husband, Carl of St. Albans, W.Va.; and dear and close friends, Vesita Loyman and Judy Bailey.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, Va., on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jon Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time for service.
