Oakie Dell McNew Litton, age 99, passed away at her home on Saturday June 10, 2017. She was born in the Hayter’s Gap Community of Washington County. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church. Oakie was a homemaker and enjoyed her flowers, garden and hand crafts; however, her first love was her family. She doted over them all, and created a home for them all to gather.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Martha Gilley McNew; husband Eugene Litton; grandson Billy Gene Litton; daughter-in-law Linnis Litton; brothers Bill, Lee, and Raymond McNew; sisters Reba McCray, Margaret Walsh, Pauline Farris, Caroline Holmes, Ernestine Hockett, and JoAnn Casey. Oakie is survived by her sons Sam Litton and wife Betty of Meadowview and William Litton of Abingdon; daughters Martha Roland and husband Sonny, and Betsy Orfield both of Meadowview; sister June McCray of Bristol, TN; grandchildren Sam Litton, Jr., Sandy Pierce, Lisa Martin, Mark Roland, Travis Roland, Tracy Orfield, Leslie Orfield, Tony Orfield, and Adam Orfield; 24 great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Oakie Dell McNew Litton will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday June 12, 2017 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Steven Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00PM before the service. Interment will be at Knollkreg Memorial Park at 11:00 AM on Tuesday June 13, 2017; where grandchildren will serve as casket bearers. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery at least 15 minutes prior to the service.
The family would offer a special thanks to Hospice Nurse Emma McCracken for the love and care shown to Oakie during her time of illness.
