Meadowview, Va. – Oakley “Oak” Sanders, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at his home in Meadowview, Virginia. He was born on September 14, 1927, in Washington County, Virginia, to the late Garland and Mary Sanders.
Oakley worked at various flea markets for many years and was known for selling lawn mower parts from his shop at his residence. Before that, he worked at Line Power in Bristol. Oakley was a longtime member of Harvest Fellowship Church in Meadowview, and he will be remembered for his giving nature, kind heart, and willingness to help others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sanders; his brother, Estel “Eck” Sanders; his sister, Arrene Sanders Brown; and his brother-in-law, Jay Brown.
Survivors include one nephew, Ricky S. Brown of Meadowview, Virginia; three nieces, Dee Dee Taylor of Mendota, Virginia, Angie Caudill of Damascus, Virginia, and Brigetta Blackwell of Abingdon, Virginia; and his girlfriend, life-partner, and caregiver, Ethel Caudill.
A Cryptside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 16, in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, with Pastor Adam Wolfe and the Reverend Tommy Wilson officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the mausoleum at 1:45 PM. The men of Harvest Fellowship Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Covid-19 Guidelines will be followed, which includes wearing masks, social distancing, and adhering to occupancy stipulations.
