Ollie Cannon Thomas, age 76, of Glade Spring, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born May 10, 1942, to the late Harley Cannon and Josephine Urbani Cannon. Ollie was a member of the Glade Spring Church of God and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Ollie was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Freddie Lee Thomas; twin sons, Freddie Reed Thomas and Teddie Lee Thomas; and three brothers, James Cannon, Lemual Cannon, and Bobby Cannon.
She is survived by two daughters, Pat Davis and husband, Jeff of Meadowview, Va. and Debbie Poston and husband, Kenneth, of Indian Valley, Va.; grandson, Justin Thomas and fiancée, Amanda Widener, of Marion, Va.; three granddaughters: Angela Poston of Radford, Va.; Kendra Poston of Radford, Va.; and Keyla Edwards and husband, Cody, of Abingdon, Va.; two great grandsons, who were the light of her life, Ryker Thomas and Lukas Edwards; another great grandson on the way; step-mother, Thelma Cannon of Abingdon, Va.; four brothers: Wayne Cannon of Emory, Va.; Charlie Cannon of Abingdon, Va.; David Cannon of Glade Spring, Va.; and Tim Cannon of Abingdon, Va.; four sisters: Phyllis Jessee of Glade Spring, Va.; Rosa Salyers of Damascus, Va.; Linda Steffey of Florida; and Brenda Caywood of Glade Spring, Va.; and special friends, Steve, Vida, and Levi DeBord, as well as, Buck and Ann Gregory.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Kenneth Poston, Rev. James Walker, and Pastor James Walls officiating. A committal service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
