Opal Collingsworth Bishop, aged 101, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in Bluff City, Tennessee. Born on July 29, 1923, in Lee County, Virginia, to the late Marshall Collingsworth and Stella Satterfield Collingsworth. Opal lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family.

Over the years, Opal built a successful career as an inspector for Fieldcrest Cannon, Inc., where her dedication and hard work were highly respected by her colleagues. After many years of devoted service, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and integrity.

Opal was known for her incredible culinary skills; she had a unique ability to prepare meals from memory, never once using a measuring cup or spoon. Her family will always cherish the flavor of the world's best chicken and dumplings, as well as her unmatched chicken gravy. Meals at her table were filled with warmth and love, that made everyone feel welcomed.

Her love for family ran deep, and she always treasured the moments spent together. Opal had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special, and she delighted in visits from loved ones. Her home was a place of gathering and love, where memories were created and cherished.

Outside the kitchen, Opal had an amazing green thumb that flourished in her beautiful flower garden. A gifted gardener, she nurtured her plants with great care and loved to share the bounty of her labor. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting, creating pieces that her family will treasure for years to come.

In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edward Bishop; her son, Charles Bishop; her daughter, Mona Sue Bishop Osborne; her siblings, Ballard Collingsworth, Lloyd Collingsworth, Brad Collingsworth, Jerry Collingsworth, Frankie Hicks, Pearl Collingsworth, T. J. Collingsworth and Rita Sue Percey; and her grandson David Osborne.

Opal leaves behind her beloved son, Gary Wayne Bishop and wife Peggy, along with her cherished siblings: Paul Collingsworth, Delilah Way, and Madge Bledsoe. She also is survived by her adoring grandchildren, Kerri Malcolm, Richard Bishop and Catherine Childress; several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
