Palmer Chester Dotson, age 81, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Bristol Regional Medical Center .
He was born February 11, 1930 in Dickenson County , VA and was a son of the late Noah and Ada Elkins Dotson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie Lee Runyon Dotson and several siblings. He was a former resident of Alexandria , VA where he worked as a welder for the City of Alexandria . He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church .
Survivors include his daughter, Janice Anderson and husband, Ward of Linden, VA; grandsons, Craig L. Osborne, Jr. of Linden , VA and Caleb Osborne of Fredericksburg , VA ; great-grandchildren, Craig L. Osborne, III and Tanesha Osborne; brothers, Denver Dotson and Curtis Dotson of Indiana ; sisters, Virginia Hicks and Bernice Willoughby of Indiana ; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Pilgrim Baptist Church on Pilgrim Lane in Abingdon with Pastor Doug Findley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 6:00 P.M. Thursday.
The committal service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens . Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to assemble at the mausoleum by 9:50 A.M. Friday.
