Palmer Mullins, 89, passed away Friday morning, July 30, 2010.

He was born in Dickenson County, VA and was a son of the late Frank and Polly Arrington Mullins. He had retail stores in Grundy, Abingdon and several other towns in the area before he retired to Myrtle Beach. He returned to Abingdon to make his home a few years ago. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a charter member of Vansant Baptist Church and though the years, he always considered Vansant Baptist his home church, no matter where he resided.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Jackson Mullins.

He is survived by his sons, Richard Mullins and wife, Arwon of Abingdon and Jerry Frank Mullins and wife, Pat of Sumpter, SC; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA with Rev. Allen Moor officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men of Vansant Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Forest Hills Chapel or at any time at the home of Richard and Arwon Mullins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Vansant Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 649, Vansant, VA 24656.
