Parlie Alfred Meadows

Parlie Alfred Meadows, age 92, passed away on June 27, 2023, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. He was born on May 4, 1931, to the late Lorn Edward and Clarcy Mae Meadows in Buchanan County, VA. Parlie served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked in the coal mines for many years. He was a member of Holston Valley Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon board. Parlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading his bible.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Ellen; one son, Larry Edwards; one daughter, Diana Hale; grandchildren, Jessica Edwards, Alex Meadows, Joseph Smith; brothers, David Meadows, Clyde Meadows, Arthur Meadows; and one sister, Christine Lockhart.

Survivors include one son, Gary Meadows, four daughters, Lana Ward and her husband James, Connie McCoy and her husband Richard, Janey Sanders and husband Jerry, Audrey Gail Smith and her husband Joe Keith; and two sisters, Shelia Horn and Mildred Vance; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 6^th at 1pm at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Cedar Bluff, VA.

Honorary pallbearers are his loving grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holston Valley Baptist Church, 18396 Cleveland Rd, Abingdon, VA 24211 where he attended faithfully.
