Pauline Browning "Polly" McConnell, age 91, passed on Friday, November 15, 2013, following a brief illness. Mrs. McConnell was a member of Rock Spring Presbyterian Church and attended Shady Grove Methodist Church.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Browning and Clara Thayer Browning; husband, Harold W. McConnell; brothers, Tivis J. (Ottelene) Browning and John (Jean) Browning; and sister, Mary B. (Frank) McConnell.
Mrs. McConnell is survived by sons, Eddie (Susie) McConnell of Abingdon, VA, Wayne (Jeannie) of Oregon, and Tom McConnell and friend Chris of Bristol, VA; daughter, Patty (David) McCall of Meadowview, VA; sisters, Ann (Leighton) Sprinkle and Ruby (Wilton) Hilt, both of Abingdon, VA; grandsons, Alan McCall, Jason McCall, Shawn McConnell, David McConnell, Abram McConnell, and Bradley McConnell; great-grandchildren, Kagan and Jesse McCall, Chloe McConnell, and Caroline McConnell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Susanne Martin and Pastor Mark McFadden officiating. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, great-grandson Kagan McCall, and most special friend, Brooks Wolters. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to convene at the cemetery by 2:00 p.m.
Visitation with the family will be held 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Main Street Location of Farris Funeral Service. The family would appreciate anyone wishing to honor Mrs. McConnell to do so by making contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Hometown Hospice, or your favorite charity.
