Pearl Grace Layne

Mrs. Pearl Grace Layne, age 85, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at her home. She was a daughter of the late Troy Robinson and Ethel Poore Robinson of Clintwood, Virginia. She had lived most of her life in Akron, Ohio, before retiring and moving to Abingdon. She was a member of Abingdon Bible Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Layne; her brothers: Great Robinson, John Robinson, Jerman Robinson, Ralph Robinson, Burlen Robinson, and Jerry Robinson; her sisters: Lola Mullins, Mona Beverly, Cindy Butler, Nell Edwards, and Naomi Cyphers; and her great-grandson, Jamie Mullins.

Mrs. Layne is survived by one sister, Margie Holmes of Clintwood; one daughter, Linda Baker of Abingdon; two grandchildren: Drew Fleming and wife Carol of Pound, VA, and Dana Mullins and husband Neal of Bristol; five great-grandchildren: Matthew Fleming and Carlie Fleming, both of Pound; Benjamin Mullins, Lexie Mullins, and Daniel Mullins, all of Bristol; two step-grandchildren: Jay Mullins and Kimmie Mullins, both of Clintwood;; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mrs. Pearl Grace Layne will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Dr. Paul Bufford officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. â?? 9:00 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel.
