Peggy June Buckles, age 76, of Bristol, Va. and formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, at the Wellmont Hospice House. She was born to the late Whint and Eursal Bare on May 14, 1940, in Washington County, Virginia. Peggy was a long-time member, and former Sunday School teacher, at North Bristol Baptist Church and was employed as a seamstress at Tultux Industries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, William S. Bill Buckles, Sr.; and a sister, Lou Seymour.
She is survived by her son, William S. Bill Buckles, Jr. and wife Lisa of Abingdon, Va.; daughter, Cheryl Ann Thornburg of the home; three brothers, Kenneth Bare and wife Joyce of Roanoke, Va., Ronald and Ralph Watkins of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Margaret Surber and Edith Bramlett, both of Roanoke, Va. and Reba Martin of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Joshua Buckles and wife Amy of Bristol, Va. and Jonah Buckles of Abingdon, Va.; great-grandchild, Malachi Buckles; and a special friend of the family, Larry Salmons.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2016, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Alan Moor officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Buckles, Jonah Buckles, Jay Davis, Ed Blankenship, and Troy Mize. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at cemetery by 1:45 p.m.
