Mrs. Peggy Kinnlaw Riley, age 78, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Riley had lived in Tidewater, Virginia before moving to Abingdon in 1983. It was there that she met her sailor husband, James Riley, and they were married for 36 years. During their life together Mrs. Riley was active in numerous civic activities. She was a member of Parke P. Dean Rebekah Lodge #68 and past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Virginia. Mrs. Riley was active with Big Brother and Big Sisters in Abingdon, and she also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence Kinnlaw and Katie Price Monizone.
Survivors include her husband, James Riley of Abingdon; two brothers, Robert Kinnlaw of Las Vegas, NV and James Kinnlaw of Virginia Beach; and one sister, Sandra Ashberry of Poquoson, VA.
Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Kinnlaw Riley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19391 Bethel Road, Abingdon, VA 24212, with Reverend Jon Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m., prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery where John Clark, Tom Deeton, Lee Garrett, Mike Hagy, Ricky Hall, and Kyle Reed will serve as pallbearers.
