Peggy Sue Burke Price

Abingdon, VA – Peggy Sue Burke Price, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Grace Health Care. Peggy was raised in Russell County, VA and moved to Abingdon in the 1970’s. She loved her family, her pet Peanut, flowers, cooking, listening to gospel music, watching religious TV programs, and always wore a smile for everyone. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Ethel Jordan Burke; sister, Jeanette E. Cook; and nephew, Scott Burke. She is survived by two brothers, Clarence (Sarah) Burke of Abingdon, VA, and George (Madge) Burke of Lebanon, VA; two sisters, Maude Booher of Bristol, VA and Elsie “Bren” Burke of Abingdon, VA; special friend, Hunter Parris; brother-in-law, J.F. Cook of Gray, TN; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Richard Burke, Gary Burke, Jeter Cook, Hank Burke, Justin Burke, Andrew Burke, and Giles Burke serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Grace Health Care, Russell County Hospice, Johnston Memorial Hospital, and Abingdon Ambulance Service for the care they provided Peggy.
