Phyllis "Ann" Collins Keene, age 77, of Abingdon, Va. and formerly of Flint, Mich., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born June 1, 1944, to the late Auburn Collins and Ida Matney Collins in Buchanan County, Va. She drove a bus for the Carman-Ainsworth School District in Flint, Mich. for 18 years. Ann was a member of Highlands Fellowship Abingdon Campus where she volunteered in the kitchen ministry. She took great pride in hosting a small group that met at the family home for over 20 years.
In addition to her parents, Ann was also preceded in death by her daughter, Chris Ann Keene; three sisters, Mabel Keene, Clelia McKinney, and Loe Jean Tackett; brother, Jimmy Collins; and a son-in-law, Bruce Gensheimer.
She is survived by her loving family who she adored with all of her heart. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 58 years, Jerry Lee Keene; daughter, Sherry Stiltner and husband, Ronnie; son, Jeff Keene and wife, Kim; all of Abingdon; four grandchildren: Bradley Gensheimer and wife, Jordan; Cody Keene and wife, Taylor; Danelle Statzer and husband, Aaron; and Kayla Keene and fiance, Cody Joines; five great grandchildren, Avery and Tripp Statzer, Bryce and Sylas Gensheimer, and Adalynn Keene; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 3:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. at Highlands Fellowship, 22417 Watauga Rd., Abingdon, Va. 24211. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at the church at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Allen Jessee and Pastor Scott Obenchain officiating. A committal service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery, 20241 Green Springs Rd., Abingdon, Va. 24211, where pallbearers will be Bradley Gensheimer, Cody Keene, Cody Joines, Aaron Statzer, Chad Dickey, and Jeremy Viers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Tony Desalvo, Larry McClure, Bob Hagy, Garnett Fuller, Norm Heron, Larry Petersak, Dee Widner, Tom Farley, Charlie Coe, and Scott Dixon.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the JMH 3300 ICU Unit Staff, Dr. Haytham Adada, and Mark Smith, PA.
