Polly Jane Parish, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born in Grundy, Virginia, on June 17, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Julia Stiltner and was a 1946 graduate of Grundy High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Parish, Jr.; two sisters, Zona Dyer and Lockie McDonald; and six brothers, Frenchman Stiltner, Lester Stiltner, Kirby Stiltner, Elmer Stiltner, Buster Stiltner, and Leon Stiltner.
She is survived by two daughters, Julia Jennings and husband John of Richlands, VA and Jane Rife and husband Gary of Colliersville, TN; two sons, William G. Parish, III and wife Jennifer of Grundy, VA and Tim Parish and wife Teresa of Honaker, VA; three sisters, Lona Kerley of NC, Mary McPhail and Jan Smith both of FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
She was a retired employee of the Selective Service System and the Mine Safety and Health Administration and was a member of the Green Spring Presbyterian Church. She loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 at Green Spring Presbyterian Church, 22007 Green Spring Church Road
Abingdon, VA 24211. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday at the church with the Reverend Jon Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, 11800 Governor G.C. Perry Highway, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609. Active pallbearers will be Scotty Owens, Pete Marcum, Brendan Roche, and Jon Kennedy.
