Mrs. Rachel Ann Banks, 39, went to be with her loving Savior on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Fairfax, Va., later moving to Abingdon where she graduated from Abingdon High School. She later attended Virginia Highlands Community College, earning an Associate degree in business.
Rachel devoted her life to taking care of her family, creating a home full of love. She had a heart for serving God by helping and loving on people. Her interests included sewing, crafting, crocheting and cooking. She was a member of Highlands Fellowship Church in Abingdon.
Rachel was preceded in death by her mother Karen Lynn Scott, her father Allan McKibben, and her brother Richard Frazier McKibben.
She is survived by her husband, Barry Banks; her grandmother who raised her, Charlotte Scott; daughters Katlyn, Kylie, and Kassie; sons Jake, Jayden, and Joshua; one grandson, Odin; and uncle, William “Bill” Scott.
Rachel’s family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Highlands Fellowship, 22417 Watauga Road, Abingdon, VA 24211. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Allen Jessee and Tyler Vencill officiating. Burial will be in Knollkreg Memorial Park on Tuesday, February 7, at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Billy Banks, Paul Banks, Logan Lunsford, Timothy Svecz, David Anderson and Greg Woods. Those attending the graveside service should meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m.
