Ray C. Pierce, 73, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 in Johnson City, TN.
He was born in Clinchburg, VA and was a son of the late Burel Ray and Mamie Holley Pierce. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Pierce; a sister, Margaret Pauline Burke; and brothers, Clyde Lewis Pierce and George Roger Pierce.
Survivors are a brother, James Ray Pierce of White Marsh, Maryland; a son, Mark E. Pierce of Danville, VA; daughters, Mitzi P. Ray and husband, Richard, Sherry P. Decker and husband, Steven, and Deborah P. Warren and husband, Arthur all of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Walker, Audrey Hudgins and husband, Alex, Phillip E. Decker, Michael S. Decker, A.J. Warren; great grandchildren, Dylan Martin, and Lillian and Thomas Hudgins.
Funeral services for Ray Pierce will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Surber officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Holley, Ricky McNew, John Surber, Jr., Ed Briggs, Tony Briggs, and Tom Holley. Highlands Fellowship Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday.
