Raymond E. Dollinger, Jr., 68, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his home.
He was born April 25, 1942 in Washington County and was a son of the late Raymond E. Dollinger Sr. and Lillian Stanfield. He grew up in the Goose Pimple Junction area and had lived in Abingdon for the past 15 years. He worked for Kern's Bakery for 23 years and retired from Triad Packaging Company where he worked for 8 years. He enjoyed fishing and video games and was a member of Covenant Fellowship Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Stanfield and one sister, June Janney.
Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Violet J. Wyatt Dollinger; four daughters, Kimberly Kay Dollinger of Bristol, TN, April La Donna Hamilton and husband, Robbie of Bristol, VA, Pamela Annette Necessary and husband, Roy of Bristol, VA and Amy Elizabeth Hillard; two brothers, Ronald Stanfield of Liberty, NC and Donald Stanfield of Summerfield, NC; three sisters, Wanda Belton of Whitsett, NC, Lynn Stanfield of Greensboro, NC and Sherry Wiggington of NC; seven grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Widener, James Moretz, Shiana Necessary, Sarah Necessary, Ben Hillard, Matthew Hillard and Samuel Hillard; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Michael Booker officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Hamilton, Roy Necessary, Ben Hillard, Sterling Greever, Danny Leonard and Joe Canter.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to assist the family will be appreciated.
