Raymond Eugene Sailor, Sr.

Raymond Eugene Sailor, Sr., age 68, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born to the late David Preston Sailor and Phoebe Ellen Shaw Sailor in Washington County, Va. Mr. Sailor served in the United States Army for 20 years and retired as an E-7. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He loved collecting guns and knives and was an avid fisherman.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sailor was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Eugene Tracy Sailor, Jr., and his brother, Charles Sailor.

Mr. Sailor is survived by his wife of forty-eight years Candice R. Sailor; three sons, Nick Sailor, Ed Sailor and Jamie Sailor all of Abingdon, Va.; daughter, Candice Rae Sailor of Abingdon, Va.; brothers: Bobby Sailor of Abingdon, Va.; Rick Sailor of Tenn.; Jackie Sailor of N.C.; Buddy Sailor and Michael Sailor both of Abingdon, Va.; three sisters: Elizabeth Farmer of Damascus, Va.; Joyce Hicks and Irene Anderson both of Meadowview, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 29, 2016, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Va. 24210, with the Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating. A committal service will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens where military honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28th at the Forest Hills Chapel.
