Raymond Kenneth “Bulldrum” Thomas, age 81, of Glade Spring, Va., passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born October 21, 1937, to the late Worley Thomas and Ethel Shew Thomas. Bulldrum was a talented athlete having played on the football team at Glade Spring. He was an active member of the community as a charter member of the Glade Spring Volunteer Fire Department and having served on the town council. He retired as a driver from Overnight Transportation and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Bulldrum was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by eight siblings and an infant son, Craig Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances Sandefur Thomas; son, Aaron Thomas, of the home; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Ernest Hurd of Glade Spring, Va.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Herbert Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
