Raymond William Jones

Bristol, TN – Raymond William Jones, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born to the late Varnum Spencer Jones and Rosie Belle Price Jones on May 28, 1937. Raymond was a bluegrass musician who often played the banjo at music festivals and revivals. He attended Alvarado Bible Church. In addition to his parents, Raymond was also preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Jones and Dwayne Jones; brother, Freddie Jones; and sister, Flossie Brewer. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet Marie Arnold Jones; son, Darrell Jones and wife Rita; two daughters, Dolores Gross and husband Stony and Donna Kemp and husband James; sister, Barbara Fields and husband Mike all of Bristol, TN; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery adjacent to Greenwood Freewill Baptist Church in Alvarado with Sonny Greg, Stony Gross, William Hawkins, Breke Jones, Chris Jones, and Alan Puryear serving as pallbearers.
